Pictures good enough to eat
We decided on a day to bring in the entire staff and made it a training day. The kitchen manager worked with his staff to create every meal on the menu exactly as it should be made, giving them a chance to learn without the rush of a full restaurant how. And the general manager came in with his servers so they could see exactly what each meal should look like when they take them out to the table, doubling up on quality control for service. We planned a separate day for bartenders to come in and test out new cocktail recipes and learn the restaurant’s signature drinks.
And I got pictures of it all.

I recognized as I sent my branding guide out to different small business owners and companies that the needs of each organization simply can’t be shoved into 1 base package. Instead, I’ve begun getting to know the wants and needs of each inquiry and then sending them a custom package, with all the details of their personalized options, 2-3 investment levels, and the reminder that the listed info is further customizable wherever they see the need.

Erin is a maker and local boutique owner who specializes in creating beautiful and magic infused goods from jewelry to candles to home and personal care products. She wants her shop, Earth Spirit, to be a safe haven for people to feel comfortable asking questions and exploring their spiritual pathway. Together, we created a vision for her branding photography session and narrowed down the stories she wanted to showcase. We talked models, location, style, and vibe, and by the end of our planning call we had all the main logistics worked out. Since she wanted to do some of her pictures in a studio with a very specific vibe and the rest at her house with her daughters and in her home office, we decided to split the session into 2 days. We’d spend 1 piece in studio and a few weeks later we’d spend time in her home.

I didn’t get here overnight. It wasn’t an easy journey. It was filled with removing toxic people from my life, people I loved and thought loved me back. It included tons of books on spirituality, self-care, and self-help. I signed up for courses and retreats around business, creating a life you love, and empowerment. There was emotional upheaval and a lot of tears. I stepped outside my comfort zone and I stopped saying things just to make people happy. I started speaking my truth and setting – and keeping – boundaries. And so much more.
