Self-Love Women's Retreat: 2023

This post is for 2023, to read about the 2024 retreat:

Back in 2021 I hosted my first retreat.

As a photographer, whose clients are mostly women, I recognized the common hesitation women had over getting in front of the camera. They were self-conscious, felt unworthy of spending money on themselves, and just generally didn’t feel beautiful.

I also saw a need for a safe space where women could connect with each other without judgement. In my experience and in conversations with other women I trusted, that was sorely lacking in our community. There’s a belief that we have to compete with one another, that if another woman is succeeding it somehow takes away from our own success. And I was, quite frankly, sick of it.

But what I think might be the most important reason, is that I’ve been in the headspace that so many women get stuck in. The one that, after years of receiving these messages from society, tells us that we have to be everything to everyone. We have to be caretakers, and givers, and moms, and wives, and daughters, and employees, and eventually we lose the thing that makes us who we are. As we focus so much on everyone around us and ignore self-care, we lose the piece of ourselves that feels most authentic.

So I reached out to my friend, Becky Benson, and asked to meet up for coffee. She had hosted 2 women’s retreats in the past so I knew she would have some insight into how to get this started. As soon as I told her my idea she encouraged me to do it and said she would help in any way she could, and Empower You Women was born.

On June 10th of this year, I will be hosting my 3rd annual self-love women’s retreat. It will be held at a private home in West Richland, and it’s going to be just as phenomenal as the first 2 – maybe even more since I’ve learned some of the “dos and don’ts” of retreat planning.

At this retreat you will connect with other women and learn about:

  • Reclaiming your personal narrative through a workshop and journaling exercise with Author Becky Benson.

  • Coping with stress, anxiety, and burnout through somatic techniques that reconnect the brain and body in a workshop with Dr. Irene Luc.

  • How vulnerability leads to deep connection and extends our abilities to build a community with Life Coach Rachael Go.

 You’ll also get to experience:

  •  Embracing your body and all its beauty through a personal portrait session with Jamie Kincaid of JK Photos.

  •  Experiencing the mind/body balance of forest bathing with Dr. Shannon Marie from Abundant Wanderings.

These retreats are designed to help you step into your power, own your worthiness, and begin to live a more fulfilled and joyful life. We provide you resources and ideas on how to further your own self-care practice and discover who it is you want to be. We lift each other up, and encourage all the women in attendance to keep in contact with any other women they felt a connection to. So that the support can go beyond the retreat day and into their everyday lives.

If you’re ready to give yourself the chance to live that fulfilled life and experience more joy, click the button below and register for this retreat.
