Picante Mexican Taqueria Branding: Photos from the session
One of my favorite types of entrepreneurs to work with is restauranteurs.
Restaurants are a blast to shoot, because the process of making the food, the interactions between staff and customers, and the meals themselves add so much variety to the session. Recently, I worked with Picante Mexican Taqueria as they opened their brick-and-mortar location (they used to be a food truck) to create some beautiful pictures for them.
The hard part about working with new restaurants is that construction during a renovation can take much longer than anticipated. Add on the current state of large purchase delivery – everything’s basically on back order – and it can get even more complicated. So we had to push back the session a few times, which I was more than happy to do.
When I work with a business I want to make sure their space and their mind are in a good place to actually shoot.
When everything was complete I came in on their opening day to get pictures. Daisy wanted pictures of her staff prepping the fresh ingredients, cooking the meals, and serving customers. She also wanted headshots of herself and any main employees, which we decided to do at a separate date since she was going to have her hands full the day of the soft opening. And I’m glad we did that, because as all restauranteurs know: opening day is never easy.
I got some really great pictures of her staff preparing, and a few of the customers. But another hard part about getting pictures of the restaurant in action is that oftentimes customers don’t want to be photographed. That’s okay! I always ask. 😉
Since it was such a crazy day, we’re planning another time for me to come in and get her updated headshots and a few more pictures of staff interacting with customers. Which I’m stoked about because, like I mentioned, I love restaurant pictures!
