Personalized branding for a local musician

If you didn’t know, I work primarily with women. Most of my clients are woman-owned businesses or busy moms looking to book a portrait session for themselves or their families. That’s partially by design, but also partially because women are primarily the ones who do the outreach for things like pictures in businesses and families.

But that’s not to say I don’t work with men at all. In fact, I have several sessions a year with men so if you’re a man out there reading this and you were hesitant to reach out to me because most of my pictures are of women, don’t be swayed! Feel free to reach out to me here and we can meet up and talk about what you’re looking for.

I haven’t had the chance to work with a lot of musicians, so when my friend Lauren reached out to me and said that her husband needed some gig photos I was stoked to do them. Mike does gigs around the Tri-Cities, and he also teaches guitar lessons. His plan was to get some great photos of him doing this thing as well as some headshots so that he could use them in flyers and ads for his upcoming shows, to get the hype going about his shows and better market himself to the owners of the businesses that host live music. I created a custom package to include 2 separate shooting times/locations. 1 would be of him practicing his playing and also the headshots, and the other would be at an actual gig on stage.

He’s a really laid back dude, so we decided for the first piece to meet at a local coffee shop to shoot some pictures of him in the moody light. As it turned out, the coffee shop was PACKED when we got there so we walked down to the park and took pictures outside first. Then we headed back up and got a few inside after some people had cleared out.

Later that week, I attended his next gig at the Emerald of Siam (fantastic food and people, btw) and took some pictures of him on stage. Altogether he got a great mix of photos. If you’re looking for something to do in the Tri-Cities, look up Mike Edmondson and check out one of his shows. He’ll be at the Emerald of Siam on May 12th!

Here are just a few of the pictures we got during our split session together:
